NSCC Boiler Energy Project

In January 2021, ACFOR Energy launched a landmark project at the NSCC Lunenburg campus in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, featuring a Fröling TM500 boiler with a 500kW capacity. This installation, a key part of ACFOR's commitment to renewable energy and ecological forestry, aimed to replace 90% of fossil-fuel-based heating at the Bridgewater Provincial Courthouse and Provincial Building, while also supplying additional heat to the NSCC campus.

ACFOR not only installed the boiler but also oversees its maintenance, operation, and fuel supply. The biomass fuel is ecologically sourced from Western Woodlot services, thereby supporting local forest restoration and creating a market for low-grade wood. The project posed unique challenges, including integration with existing building heating systems and supplying multiple buildings.

This collaboration with the Provincial Government of Nova Scotia aligns with their goal to decarbonize operations. Custom solutions like a fast and efficient chip unloading conveyor system highlight ACFOR's innovative approach, setting it apart in the industry. The boiler, a high-efficiency and low-emission model from Fröling, reflects ACFOR's commitment to cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices.

The project significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, equivalent to removing a substantial number of cars from the road. It also provides stable, competitively priced, carbon-neutral heat and demonstrates the potential of biomass as a reliable renewable heat source. This venture underlines ACFOR’s broader vision of nurturing forests and energizing communities, using waste wood from ecological forestry operations as a fuel source, thus contributing to both environmental benefits and the support of other ACFOR initiatives.

Home Boiler Project

We are proud to showcase a state-of-the-art boiler installation in Cocagne, New Brunswick. Completed in the summer of 2021, this venture features the Fröling T4e boiler with a 60kW capacity, chosen for its exceptional efficiency and advanced technology. Imported from Austria, a global leader in boiler technology, our Fröling T4e boiler ensures high-efficiency combustion with minimal human involvement and significantly low emissions.

Installed in a private residence, our boiler's primary function is to provide reliable, carbon-neutral heating at a competitive price. A standout feature of this project is the unique application of a snow and ice melt system for the driveway, a first in our portfolio. This innovative system relieves the homeowner from the burdens of winter shoveling or the expenses associated with snow removal.

Our team at ACFOR is fully responsible for the boiler's maintenance, operation, and the provision of fuel. We source our biomass fuel from our own ecological forestry operations, emphasizing our commitment to sustainable practices and supporting the local economy.

The client has experienced immediate benefits from this installation, including a warm, eco-friendly home environment. The use of locally sourced woodchips not only aids in supporting the local economy but also stabilizes future energy costs.
